PowerTherm has been working with Dublin Port since 2011. In that time we’ve provided a range of services, some of which are discussed below. Port Centre, which has received particular focus, has achieved 26% primary energy savings since 2011 (not entirely due to our works!).

Boiler House Retrofit

The Project


  • Strip out original combi-boilers and headers
  • New gas supply from street to rooftop

  • 38% thermal energy savings
  • €33,900 saved in 2014
  • 7 year payback

  • Install BMS Sensors, Actuators and Controllers throughout
  • System Flows Calculated, Balanced and Tuned
  • Weather Compensated Temperature Control in Heating Mode and Cooling Mode
  • Building Warmup Control Strategies

  • 48% saving in AHU Fan Power (supply and extract)
  • €5,750 saved
  • Additional savings in chiller electricity use.

ISO500001 Implementation Support

  • Dublin Port has ISO140001 in place
  • Dublin Port participated in SEAI’s ISO50001 Masterclass
  • PowerTherm assisted with the development of the ISO50001 system
  • Dublin Port achieved ISO50001 Certification in Q1 2017.
